Mission
The mission statement of WMSE 91.7FM reads as follows:

“To educate our community by providing a wide selection of musical programming it can’t hear anywhere else on the radio dial. To be an outlet for local artists who have little or no radio exposure in their own community. To have a unique and tangible value to MSOE.”

In keeping with this mission, WMSE has launched the Milwaukee Sound Environment (M.S.E.) Project, which will serve as a resource for artists and listeners to find each other in Milwaukee. Musicians will find streamlined information regarding getting their music heard on the air, and members of the community will have information on where to find music by their favorite artists.

WMSE takes pride in being one of the few outlets in Milwaukee for the city’s artists. We are excited about the quality and diversity of the talent in the area, and are fortunate that we are in a position to present them to our open-minded and enthusiastic listenership.

Ultimately, we would like for WMSE and mseproject.org to be a one-stop for information on music in Milwaukee. The site will include mp3’s, news, and links which should help our listeners learn about unknown artists, as well as a streamlined process for bands letting them know how to be heard. You’ll still hear Milwaukee artists, live in the studio and recorded on disc, in the mix with national and international artists you might already know. We will be increasing our live in-studio performances and interviews, with a dedicated time-slot specifically for this purpose.

Above all, the M.S.E. Project is a service to the community, and we want to hear your comments. Let us know if anything is confusing or just plain wrong. The project will be rooted in presentation, and we will not be editorializing in any way. Simply, we’ll provide the venue for expression and leave it up to the listeners if they choose to find out more.

Thanks to you for making this possible and viable in Milwaukee, and thanks to the Milwaukee Arts Board and the Wisconsin Arts Board who are helping get this project off the ground.
